Indore (Madhya Pradesh): The last week of December and the first day of the New Year saw thieves targeting six houses in the city and decamping with cash and valuables.
Theft 1
Thieves targeted the house of a grain businessman and decamped with valuables of lakhs of rupees. The incident occurred in Tilak Nagar area when the victim had gone to Udaipur with his family to celebrate New Year.
Tilak Nagar police station in-charge Manish Lodha said that the complainant Adish Jain had gone out of station with his family on December 28 and when he returned home, he found the door lock broken and the house ransacked.
When they searched, around two to three tola of gold including rings, earrings and other jewellery were missing along with cash of around Rs 20 thousand. The police launched a probe and are scrutinising CCTVs footage to gather information about the thieves. As the incident occurred a few days ago and thieves got time to flee, it has been tough for police to identify the accused.
Theft 2
Another theft incident occurred in Rajendra Nagar police station area wherein thieves decamped with jewellery and cash. The complainant Sushil Sharma, a resident of Ishkunj Colony, Nihalpur Mundi Road, told police that he had gone to Somnath, Gujarat with his family to offer prayers on 25 December.
On 29 December, his HDFC Bank card came to his address. When his uncle went to collect the card, he found the lock broken and informed Sunil. When Sushil returned to Indore with his family, and checked his belongings, he found that the thieves had stolen two gold mangalsutras, two pairs of gold earrings, two gold rings, bike keys, some silver jewellery and about 40 thousand rupees in cash from the house. The police are investigating the matter and scanning the CCTV footage of the surrounding area so that the thieves can be identified.
Theft 3
Thieves targeted the house of one Prakash Haldhar, and fled with jewellery and other valuables. The incident occurred in Manavta Nagar under Kanadiya police station limits on December 31 evening around 7 pm. Prakash told cops that thieves broke the lock of the house and stole the box containing old gold and silver jewellery, Aadhar card, PAN card, SBI Bank ATM card and Voter ID. The police registered a case and launched a probe.
Theft 4
Thieves decamped with cash and valuables from a house in Annapurna police station area. The incident occurred in the house of Pawan, a resident of Precanco Colony on December 30 evening. The complainant told police that someone broke the door lock and stole small silver puja utensils, 1 gold Mangalsutra, a silver Rudraksha rosary and some cash. The police registered a case and launched a probe.
Theft 5
Thieves target two houses in Devguradiya Indore Thieves targeted two houses in Devguradia under Khudel police station limits and fled with jewellery, cash worth Rs 2 lakh. The incident occurred in the wee hours of Wednesday around 3 am.
According to the police, one Sunny Kumrawat, a resident of Emerald Anutham, Devguradiya lodged a complaint stating that thieves decamped with gold and silver jewellery along with cash after breaking the door lock.
Later, the accused also committed theft at his neighbour Manoj Kumar’s house and fled with cash. The total stolen valuables are worth Rs 2 lakh. The police registered a case against the unidentified accused under sections 305(a), 331(4) of the BNS and began a probe.
