Thane: Anti-Corruption Bureau Arrests Cooperative Society Clerk In Ambernath For Taking ₹60,000 Bribe

The Anti-Corruption Bureau caught red-handed a 44-year-old clerk from the Cooperative Society in Ambernath while taking a bribe of Rs 60,000 from the complainant on Friday.

ACB sources said that two public servants have been identified as Vijay Singh Patil, a clerk who got the additional charge of Assistant Government Officer in the Registrar Cooperative Society in Ambernath, and Atmaram Chaudhary, an Assistant Registrar from the Cooperative Society in Ambernath.

ACB sources said that the complainant lodged a complaint against Patil, who allegedly demanded a bribe of Rs 70,000 for the formation of a housing society for his building.

According to ACB officials, they demanded Rs 70,000 from the complainant earlier. Later, it was settled for Rs 60,000. Based on the complaint, an official from ACB conducted a verification regarding the same and found it to be true.

ACB sources said that they laid a trap in Ambernath and caught Patil red-handed while he was taking a bribe of Rs 60,000. Chetan Chaudhary had encouraged Patil to take a bribe from the complainant.

The ACB team took Patil into their custody and seized the bribe amount.

A case was registered against them under the relevant sections of the Prevention of Corruption Act at Badlapur East Police Station. Further investigation is underway.
