Kerala: Police Find Human Skull And Bones In Fridge Inside Abandoned House Near Kochi, Say Reports

Police in Kerala have found human remains, including skull and bones, in an abandoned house on the outskirts of Kochi. Local media has reported that the house is located in the town of Chottanikkara, a suburb of Kochi. The owner of the house is reportedly a native of Ernakulam. The house, built on a 14-acre plot wasn’t inhabited for 15-20 years.

The local police entered the house after residents in the area complained that the empty structure was being used by anti-social elements.

When police officials entered the house, they found that the human remains were stored in a defunct fridge the compressor of which was missing. The skull and bones were found packed in three packages. The house had no electricity.

As per media reports, it could not been immediately determined who the remains belonged to. More details were expected to emerge after laboratory tests.

Police are carrying out further investigation.

“Preliminary examination confirmed that the remains are human. We have summoned the owner for questioning. His children live abroad. A thorough investigation is underway to uncover more details,” a police source said. “A case has been registered, but further details cannot be disclosed at this time. The forensic examination is scheduled for Tuesday, and more information will emerge after that,” said Vaibhav Saxena, Ernakulam Rural police chief as quoted by The New Indian Express.
