Bhopal/Dewas (Madhya Pradesh): A day after a woman’s decomposed and tied body was recovered from a fridge of a vacant house in Madhya Pradesh’s Dewas, chilling revelations have surfaced. The police, after the investigation, revealed that the woman’s live-in partner, Sanjay Patidar, murdered her eight months ago and hid her body in the refrigerator.
It is said that the accused allegedly murdered the victim following her repeated demands for marriage.
The body was discovered on Friday in a vacant flat located in the Vrindavan Dham Colony in Dewas.
Upon discovery of the body, a case was registered in the BNP police station. Accused Sanjay Patidar, a resident of Ujjain district, was traced and apprehended. Patidar confessed to the crime during initial questioning.
According to information, during interrogation, Patidar admitted to killing his live-in partner, identified as Pratibha, in March 2024. He further admitted that he took the help of an associate, Vinod Dave, also from Ujjain, to commit the crime. The two strangled her to death following her insistence on marriage. To hide the crime, Patidar stored her body in the refrigerator, tied it with cloth, and locked the room.
Patidar vacated the flat but lied to the owner, alleging that he would come back to pick up his belongings. Vinod Dave is currently in jail in Rajasthan for an unrelated crime. Police are coordinating with Rajasthan authorities for further investigation. Patidar is in custody, and police have launched a detailed investigation into the case.
Discovery of the body
The body was discovered by Balbir Rajput, the current tenant of the house, while cleaning locked rooms rented by previous occupants. Upon opening the refrigerator, he found the woman’s body and immediately informed the police.
