5 Coaches Of Puducherry-Bound Passenger Train Derails In Tamil Nadu’s Villupuram; Probe Launched

Villupuram: Five coaches of a passenger train from Villupuram to Puducherry derailed near Villupuram railway station on Monday. Senior officials rushed to the spot after receiving the information. No casualties have been reported.

“A major accident was averted as the train stopped immediately after a loud noise was heard. All passengers were safely evacuated from the train. Railway staff and engineers rushed to the site and are actively working to repair the derailed train,” PRO Railway, Chennai, said as reported by ANI.

The route was cleared for other trains. An probe has been launched to whether the incident was due to a technical fault or sabotage. The Villupuram Railway Police is carrying out in-depth inquiry into the matter.
