Delhi Assembly Elections 2025: From New Delhi To Kalka Ji, Key Constituencies To Watch Out For In Upcoming Polls

New Delhi: The Delhi Assembly Elections 2025 are around the corner and every political party is trying to woo the voters. There are 70 assembly constituencies in Delhi. The national capital territory (NCT) is witnessing a fierce electoral battle between the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Congress.

The AAP will be eyeing to come to power for the third consecutive time, while the BJP is trying its best to dethrone the Arvind Kejriwal-led party. Meanwhile, the Congress, which failed to even win a single seat, will be hoping to increase its seat share. New Delhi, Kalka Ji and Jangpura are among the key constituencies.

Here Are Key Constituencies In The Delhi Polls:

New Delhi: The New Delhi constituency, earlier known as the Gole Market seat will witness a tough contest between the AAP chief and former Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal, BJP’s Parvesh Verma and the Congress’s Sandeep Dikshit. The constituency was created by reorginisation by delimitation commission by 2008. Kejriwal was never defeated in New Delhi since he first contested the assembly polls in 2023.

Kalka Ji: The Kalka Ji Assembly seat will have a triangular contest between Delhi CM Atishi, BJP’s Ramesh BIdhuri and Congress’s Alka Lamba. Atishi is the incumbent MLA from this seat. She won in the 2020 polls defeating BJP’s Dharambir. Bidhuri targeted Atishi over her surname.

Jangpura: The AAP never lost any election from this seat since its first contested elections in 2013. Praveen Kumar won the polls from this seat twice in 2015 and 2020, while in 2013 AAP’s Maninder Singh Dhir remained victorious. Notably, This time former Delhi deputy CM Manish Sisodia is contesting the polls from this seat against BJP’s Tarvinder Singh Marwah and Congress’s Farhad Suri.

Malviya Nagar: It is considered a stronghold of AAP as Somnath Bharati never lost a poll from this seat since 2013. In the 2025 polls, Bharati is contesting against BJP’s Satish Upadhyay and Jitendra Kumar Kochar

Ballimaran: Ballimaran is part of the Chandni Chowk Lok Sabha seat. AAP’s Imran Sheikhh won the seat twice in 2025 and 2020. In 2013, Congress’s Harron Yusuf bagged the seat. This time, the main contest will be between Sheikh and Yusuf. Meanwhile, the BJP has fielded Kamal Bagri in the Muslin-dominated seat to consolidate Hindu votes.

Shakur Basti: It is also part of the Chandni Chowk Lok Sabha seat. Sateynder Jain won this seat thrice. In the 2025 polls, Jain is up against BJP’s Karnail Singh and Congress’s Satish Luthra.

Patparganj: Sisodia contested the assembly polls thrice from this seat and won all of them. However, this time around, the former deputy CM of Delhi decided to contest from the Jangpura seat. The AAP has field teacher-turned-political Avadh Ojha. Banking on OJha’s popularity, the AAP is confident of retaining the seat. Ojha is contesting against BJP’s Ravinder Singh Negi and Congress’s Anil Chaudhary.

Rohini: The BJP bagged the seat twice in 2015 and 2020. However, in the 2013 polls, AAP’s Rajesh Garg bagged the seat. This time around, Gupta is contesting against AAP’s Pradeep Mittal and Conghress’s Sumesh Gupta.

Okhla: The seat was won by AAP’s Amanatullah Khan twice in 2015 and 2020. However, in the 2013 polls, Congress’s Asif Muhammad Khan secured the seat. Khan is accused in the Delhi Waqf Board case. This time, Khan is up against BJP’s Manish Chaudhary and Congress’s Ariba Khan.

The assembly elections in Delhi are scheduled to take place in a single phase on February 5 and the votes will be counted on February 8.
