Tulsi Silawat Writes To CM Mohan Yadav Seeking Agricultural University In Indore

Indore (Madhya Pradesh): Water resources minister Tulsiram Silawat submitted a formal demand letter to Chief Minister Dr Mohan Yadav, advocating for the establishment of an Agricultural University in Indore. Silawat said the region has potential to become a hub for advanced agricultural education and research.

Silawat emphasised that Malwa Nimar is a leader in modern farming techniques and innovation. “Farmers in this region are at the forefront of advanced agriculture. The establishment of an Agricultural University will provide a strong foundation for the growth and development of agriculture in Malwa Nimar,” he stated.

The minister presented the proposal to chief minister Yadav during a cabinet meeting held in Maheshwar, underscoring the need to address the logistical and academic challenges faced by students and educators. Currently, agricultural colleges in Indore are affiliated with Rajmata Vijayaraje Scindia Agricultural University in Gwalior, necessitating long-distance travel for academic activities.

Highlighting Indore’s prominence as the economic and educational capital of Madhya Pradesh, Silawat remarked, “Indore is already home to premier institutions like IIM and IIT, making it a key centre for education in Central India. The addition of an Agricultural University will further cement its reputation and cater to the growing educational needs of students in agriculture.”

The proposed university aims to centralise agricultural education and research in the region, benefiting students, educators, and farmers. Silawat urged the Chief Minister to expedite the approval process, citing the importance of the initiative for the state’s agricultural sector.

The establishment of the university would not only alleviate logistical challenges but also enhance opportunities for innovation and growth in agriculture, positioning Indore as a leader in the field. The proposal marks a step forward in the government’s commitment to supporting advanced agriculture and education in Madhya Pradesh.
