Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLA from Pune’s Shivajinagar, Siddharth Shirole, met Divisional Railway Manager Rajesh Kumar Verma on Monday and discussed the much-awaited widening of the Khadki Railway Underpass near Khadki Police Station on the Old Pune-Mumbai Highway.

Taking to X (formerly Twitter), Shirole said the widening project will be completed within a year. “The underpass will be widened to double its current capacity, significantly reducing traffic congestion in the area. The new underpass construction is set to be completed within a year, benefiting residents and commuters from Aundh, Bopodi and surrounding areas. Final plans for the project will be prepared by February 15. After approvals, the project is expected to be completed within six months,” he wrote. “The upgraded underpass will provide a dedicated, streamlined route for vehicles, easing traffic bottlenecks and improving connectivity,” he added.
“This project marks an important milestone for infrastructure development in Khadki and the surrounding regions. I look forward to its timely completion and the positive impact it will have on residents and commuters alike,” Shirole concluded.
This meeting was attended by key officials, including Khadki Cantonment Board CEO Meenakshi Lohia, PMC Executive Engineer Shrikant Gaikwad, Deputy Engineer Hemant Jagtap and Railway Consultant Sudhir Patil, among others.
