Punjab Police Arrest Six Members Of Kaushal Gang, Seize Six Foreign-Made Pistols And 40 Rounds

Chandigarh: Punjab police on Monday claimed to have arrested six members of Kaushal Chaudhary gang, including its two key shooters identified as Puneet Lakhanpal and Narinder Kumar alias Lalli, involved in the murders of kabaddi players Sandeep Singh Nangal Ambian and Sukhmeet Singh alias Deputy.

Stating that the other four accused were identified as Harpreet Singh of Ferozepur, Gurbhinder Singh and Sandeep Singh of Amritsar and Maninderjit Singh Shinda of Ludhiana, Director General of Police (DGP), Punjab, Gaurav Yadav said that police teams have also recovered six .30 bore foreign-made pistols along with 40 rounds from their possession.

DGP Yadav said that the same gang was also involved in firing indiscriminately at the Highway King Hotel in Rajasthan and demanding an extortion of Rs 5 crore in September 2024. All the arrested accused persons have a criminal history and they were evading arrests since the last three years, he added.

He said that preliminary investigation has revealed that the arrested persons are professional shooters of an organised criminal network of Kaushal Chaudhary gang, which is active in Haryana, Rajasthan, Punjab, and adjoining areas.

The DGP said that all the accused were nabbed by the police which got information about their location near Haveli restaurant in Jandiala town of Amritsar.

Police said that while Puneet Lakhanpal was involved in murder cases including Kabaddi player Sandeep Singh Nangal Ambian and Sukhmeet Deputy and has over 20 registered cases against him, Narinder Kuma, was a key shooter in the Kaushal Chaudhary gang, wanted in murder cases, including the two Kabaddi players, and faced seven other criminal cases.

Likewise, Happal was under trial for multiple cases involving illegal arms and violence, Shinda faced several arms-related crimes, Sandeep Singh and Gurbhinder Singh also faced several criminal cases.
