Bhopal: FIITJEE Impedes Students’ Future

Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): Parents of dozens of students enrolled at Bhopal centre of FIITJEE demonstrated outside the shuttered office of the coaching institution in MP Nagar in the city on Tuesday, demanding that the government should get the fees paid by them refunded.

Demanding arrest of coaching institution owner DK Goyal, they raised slogans against FIITJEE management. Police Commissioner Harinaraiyanchari Mishra told media persons the police were trying to trace the location of the owner of the FITJEE chain of coaching institutions.

The Bhopal centre of FIITJEE has shut along with centres at Patna, Gurgaon among other places. Parents said they lost more than Rs 12 crore paid as fees for about 700 students.

They said that their wards were deeply worried about their future and demanded that Goyal be arrested and the bank accounts of the chain should be sealed. Akhilesh Agarwal, one of the protestors, said they filed complaints at the collector’s office and police station but no action had been taken.

Another parent said that he had borrowed money to pay his son’s fees and now he was feeling cheated. Mukesh Mahawar added that due to sudden closure of the institution, his son, a Class 11 student, was suffering from depression. Another parent Deepak Rai said that he paid Rs 2.56 lakh to get his children admitted but classes were conducted for just three months. After that the centre was shut.

“Union home ministry should intervene in this matter and get the parents’ money back,” he added.

The police have registered an FIR against the local management of the institution. Mishra has said that they formed three teams to trace and arrest Goyal. One of the teams has already reached Delhi and was raiding the known addresses of the owner.
