Indore: 17-Year-Old Boy On Picnic Drowns In Junapani Waterfall

Indore (Madhya Pradesh): A 17-year-old boy drowned in the water while on a picnic with friends at Junapani waterfall on Republic Day. The incident took place under Simrol police station limits.

Later, police recovered his body. According to the police, the deceased was identified as Alfaiz Ansari, a resident of Ranipura area.

His friend Moeen Ansari told the police that he along with Alfaiz, Sibten, Yasir, Ishraq and Umer went to the Junapani waterfall in Bhagora as there was a holiday on Republic Day.

They cooked food there and later, Moeen and Alfaiz sat near the pond, putting their legs in the water.

Then, Alfaiz went into the water to take a bath and accidentally slipped into deep water. When he shouted, they tried to save him but could not rescue him and he drowned.

His friends said they made a kind of rope by tying their belts together and threw it in the water to bring him out but failed. They cried for help and locals gathered on the spot and informed the police.

The police began a probe to ascertain the exact circumstances surrounding the incident. The local police urged all visitors to exercise caution and stay within safe area while enjoying the beauty of nature.
