An FIR has been filed against comedian Samay Raina’s show India’s Got Latent over a controversial comment made by a contestant from Arunachal Pradesh.
In a recent episode, Jessy Nabam, a resident of Arunachal Pradesh, joked about her state’s people. When Samay Raina asked if she had ever eaten dog meat, she said she hadn’t but claimed that people in Arunachal do.
“I know because my friends eat it. They even eat their pets at times,” she said on stage after her performance. While the panel, including Balraj Singh Ghai, took it as a joke, Jessy insisted that it was true.
Videos of the said incident surfaced on social media platforms and went viral within no time.
Soon after, an FIR was reportedly lodged against Jessy Nabam over her ‘derogatory’ remarks. A copy of the FIR, dated January 31, 2025, is going viral on social media.
Filed by Armaan Ram Welly Bakha, a resident of Seppa, Arunachal Pradesh’s East Kameng District, it is addressed to the officer in charge of Itanagar Police Station. The complaint alleges that Jessy made derogatory remarks about Arunachal Pradesh’s indigenous people on the YouTube show.
“I request you that please take quick action in this matter for in the future no one could do it again like Jessy Nabam did, the FIR reportedly states.
Samay Raina or the other panelists have not reacted to reports of the FIR yet.
