SGCCI launches doctoral scholarship for PhD students

Surat : The Southern Gujarat Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SGCCI) Golden Jubilee Memorial Trust has announced an exciting initiative aimed at supporting academic excellence in South Gujarat. The trust, known for its recognition of outstanding individuals in industrial, social, and educational fields, will now provide scholarships for PhD students conducting research in South Gujarat, including Surat.

This year, the trust is expanding its impact by offering scholarships to students pursuing PhD research in various fields. PhD students from South Gujarat, including Surat, Navsari, Valsad, Vapi, Dang, Bharuch, and Tapi districts, are invited to apply. These scholarships aim to support meaningful research projects and foster an environment conducive to academic growth across the region.

Rajnikant Marfatia, Chairman of the SGCCI Golden Jubilee Memorial Trust, emphasized that the objective of the SGCCI Golden Jubilee Doctoral Scholarship is to encourage the pursuit of knowledge in diverse fields and support students working on impactful research. The trust has identified several areas of study, including agricultural sciences, bio-engineering, chemistry, computer science, economics, education policy, energy studies, environmental research, public health, urban planning, and visual arts.

Eligible PhD students in the specified fields can receive an annual scholarship of up to ₹1 lakh for a maximum of three years. The scholarship for the second and third years will be granted based on a positive evaluation by the Scholarship Evaluation Committee, ensuring that the students maintain satisfactory progress in their research.
