N Biren Singh’s resignation comes ahead of the Budget session in the state assembly.

Before submitting his resignation to the Governor, N Biren Singh had an over two-hour-long meeting with Union Home Minister Amit Shah and BJP president J P Nadda today in Delhi.

According to reports, N Biren Singh has been given the responsibility to lead the state government until a new CM takes charge.

There had been a long-standing demand for Singh’s resignation after the ethnic violence between the Meitei and Kuki communities began in May 2023.

According to reports, Singh had decided to step down from his post in July 2023; however, he was forced to withdraw his resignation following protests from his supporters.
