Thane: The waste-to-fertilizer project is a very significant project for Thane and will be the largest project in the state. The Transport Minister Pratap Sarnaik visited to inspect the development projects in the Thane Ghodbunder area.
According to the civic officials from TMC, the waste-to-fertilizer project should covers a larger area of about 300 to 400 tons of wet waste that will be disposed of scientifically over an area of 3 acres, and fertilizer will be produced.
Transport Minister Pratap Sarnaik emphasized that the waste-to-fertilizer project will be the biggest project of its kind in the state. He inspected four development projects in the Thane Ghodbunder area on Friday morning.
The civic officials said that Sarnaik, along with Thane Municipal Commissioner Saurabh Rao, Additional Commissioner Prashant Rode, City Engineer Prashant Sonagra, Assistant Director of Urban Planning Sangram Kanade, Deputy Commissioner Manish Joshi, and Shankar Patole, visited the project site.
The civic officials from TMC said that a huge fund has been sanctioned for four projects, such as the fertilizer production project, the beautification of Nagla Bunder Creek, the development of Borivade ground, and the garden on the reserved plot at Anand Nagar in Thane during the tenure of Eknath Shinde as Chief Minister. However, the project work has started now.
According to the official, as per the project will involve the consolidation of two existing plants and is expected to create a sustainable solution for waste management in the city.
Gaimukh Fertilizer Project:
TMC has been allocated a total of Rs 150 crore under the scheme of state government basic amenities. The project at Gaimukh includes a capacity of 97 tons for fertilizer and 50 tons for Nagla Bunder, as well as two mobile vans for fertilizer production with a capacity of 1.5 tons. This area is situated between the National Park and the Tungareshwar Range, and the project has received permission from the forest department.
Nagla Bunder Beautification:
As the part of Rs 150 crores funding, Sarnaik visited Nagla Bunder, where a memorial of Kanhoji Angre, a chief of the Maratha Navy, is being developed, and interacted with local residents. Sarnaik emphasized the need for significant and proper rehabilitation of the local families who were displaced in the area and for securing their homes and livelihoods.
Borivade Maidan Development:
The state government has been allocated Rs 75 crore under the scheme for the Development of Basic Facilities for Municipal Areas for the development of reservation and facilities plots. The Borivade ground, which covers 84,974 square meters, is being developed under the name of Dharmaveer Anand Dighe Sports Complex, for which the foundation was laid recently.
This sports complex includes a badminton court, cricket practice nets, wrestling facilities, a canteen, etc. Meanwhile, field games like Mallakhamb, Kabaddi, Hutu Tu, red clay wrestling, basketball court, volleyball court, and skating track are also included in the project.
Garden in Anandnagar:
The state government has been allocated Rs 2 core for development of the park at Anand Nagar namely Swami Smarth. Sarnaik inspected the site and discussed plans with the local community and Swami Samarth Temple authorities. The park will be managed by the temple.
