Hyundai Completes 25 Years of Car Exports from India

Hyundai Motor India Limited (HMIL) has completed 25 years of exporting passenger vehicles, solidifying its position as the country’s top automobile exporter. Since beginning exports in 1999, the company has shipped over 3.7 million Made-in-India cars to global markets. Hyundai vehicles have reached more than 150 countries over the years, with the company currently catering to over 60 nations. Among its best-selling export models, the Hyundai i10 series has surpassed 1.5 million units, while the Verna has crossed the 500,000 mark in cumulative exports.

In 2024, Hyundai Motor India Limited (HMIL) strengthened its global presence, with Saudi Arabia, South Africa, Mexico, Chile, and Peru emerging as its top export markets. The company recorded a total export volume of 1,58,686 units during the year, reinforcing its position as a key player in the international automotive market.

Hyundai Motor India Limited (HMIL) has reached a significant milestone by exporting over one million vehicles to Africa. In 2024, the company further expanded its global footprint by introducing the Hyundai Exter to the South African market, making it the eighth Made-in-India Hyundai model available there. Over the years, popular models like the Creta, Alcazar, Verna, Exter, and i10 have gained strong recognition in international markets, reinforcing HMIL’s success in the global automotive industry.

Unsoo Kim, Managing Director of HMIL, shared his thoughts on this export milestone, stating, “Hyundai Motor India Limited proudly stands as the largest exporter of passenger vehicles from India on a cumulative basis. Having exported over 3.7 million units over the last 25 years, HMIL has earned a significant amount of forex for the nation while putting India on the world map for its manufacturing excellence.
