Kartik Aaryan’s much-anticipated film, Aashiqui 3, was officially announced on February 15, Saturday, and along with that, the makers also revealed the leading lady of the latest film of the hit franchise. After making a mark in the South, actress Sreeleela is all set for her Bollywood debut with Aashiqui 3.
On Saturday, the makers of Aashiqui 3 unveiled the first look of the film, in which Kartik can be seen in a totally different avatar, with a bulked up physique, disheveled hair, a face full of beard, and a heartbroken look. Alongside him, the makers introduced a docile-looking, carefree Sreeleela, who also seems to be Kartik’s love and muse in the film.
Aashiqui 3 is being helmed by Barfi! fame Anurag Basu and it is scheduled for a Diwali 2025 release.
Who is Sreeleela?
As soon as the film was announced, fans of the South beauty rejoiced and cheered for the actress, while the Hindi audience wondered who Kartik’s new leading lady is. For those unawares, Sreeleela recently took the internet by storm with the viral song ‘Kissik’ in Allu Arjun’s Pushpa 2: The Rule.
Born in 2001 into a Telugu family in Michigan US, Sreeleela was brought up in Bengaluru, and her first stint on the silver screen was as a child artist in the 2017 film, Chitrangada.
In 2019, she made her full-fledged acting debut with AP Arjun’s Kannada romcom ‘Kiss’. Despite achieving fame and success with her first film itself, Sreeleela, who was then pursuing her MBBS degree from the Apollo Medical College in Hyderabad, decided to complete her studies before immersing herself fully in movies.
In 2021, Sreeleela graduated with an MBBS degree, and she is now a certified doctor.
In the same year, she starred in the Telugu film, Pelli SandaD, which propelled her to overnight fame. She later went on to star in films like By Two Love, Dhamaka, Skanda, Aadikeshava and Extra Ordinary Man, among others.
Sreeleela – ‘The Dancing Queen’
In 2024, Sreeleela stole hearts as she played the lead opposite Mahesh Babu in the film, Guntur Kaaram. Their song ‘
Kurchi Madathapetti’ from the film went viral on the internet and the actress was lauded for her energetic moves and chemistry with Mahesh Babu.
And when the audience was still reeling from the popularity of the song, she bagged the biggest project of her career — Pushpa 2. The actress shared the screen with Allu Arjun in the biggest blockbuster of 2024 in the song, Kissik.
During an event, Allu Arjun bestowed her with the title ‘Dancing Queen’, and also went on to call the actress “super hardworking and super cute”.
Sreeleela’s Kissik became a rage online and the audience also compared her song to Samantha Ruth Prabhu’s chartbuster Oo Antava from Pushpa 1: The Rise.
It will now be interesting to watch if Sreeleela will carve a place for herself in Bollywood as well with the tale of love and heartbreak that Aashiqui 3 is touted to be.
