Bollywood actors Prateik Babbar and Priya Banerjee got married in an intimate ceremony in Mumbai on February 14. The two tied the knot at the former’s Bandra residence on the occasion of Valentine’s Day, and what caught everyone’s eyes was that the actor’s father, veteran star Raj Babbar, was missing from the ceremonies.
Prateik’s half-brother Aarya Babbar even went on to record to say that the actor had neither invited their father nor had he called his half-siblings to his wedding. Finally breaking silence on the issue, a newly-married Priya defended her husband and told Hindustan Times, “There was absolutely no family member who was missing from the wedding or our celebrations.”
She went on to say, “I don’t know why there are rumours that ‘family members’ were absent. Our families were there including my parents, his aunts who raised him, his nana-nani and everyone who mattered and is family was with us. And there was absolutely nobody who is family and was missing.”
While Prateik did not invite Raj Babbar, he made sure to honour his late mother, Smita Patil, by erecting a huge portrait of her right where he got married to Priya. The Chhichhore actor also got emotional and teared up as he finally tied the knot with Priya, and the Rana Naidu actress was seen consoling him.
Announcing their union on Valentine’s Day, Priya took to her Instagram handle to share some intimate moments from the wedding, and wrote, “I’ll marry you in every lifetime (sic).”
For those unversed, Prateik was earlier married to Sanya Sagar. However, after four years of marriage, they got divorced in 2023.
