Guna (Madhya Pradesh): A massive fire broke out late at night in the office of a councillor in Guna on Monday. The fire quickly spread, engulfing parts of the house near the councillor’s office before fire brigades arrived to control the situation.
The incident occurred in Mahavir Pura area of Guna. The office, located in a rented shop, stored medical supplies, including acid.
Three fire brigades were called to the scene and managed to control the fire within an hour. The exact loss is yet to be determined.
According to information, the fire started in a two-story house on the service road of Mahavir Pura Overbridge, owned by Jaynarayan Meena.
The ground floor has a government ration shop and a warehouse, while the second floor has four rented rooms, one of which housed the office of Ward 22 Councillor Raju Ojha.
Smoke was first seen coming from the office, and soon, flames started rising. Locals immediately informed the fire brigade.
Municipality CMO Tejsingh Yadav, Kotwali Police Station in-charge Brajmohan Bhadoriya, and other officials reached the spot as soon as they received the information.
Three fire brigades worked for about an hour to control the fire.
Initial reports suggest that a short circuit may have caused the fire. The councillor’s office was completely destroyed, with furniture, documents, and other items reduced to ashes.
Municipality CMO Tejsingh Yadav praised the fire brigade’s quick response, stating that their timely action prevented the fire from spreading further. He added that two fire brigades are always on standby for emergencies, allowing for immediate action.
Fortunately, the fire did not spread to the ground floor, where the ration shop is located. The quick response of the fire brigade also prevented damage to nearby buildings, avoiding a major disaster.
Authorities are currently assessing the damage and investigating the exact cause of the fire.
