Mumbai: Airport Customs Seizes Cocaine & Methaqualone Worth ₹10 Crore From Woman Who Ingested 84 Capsules

Mumbai: The Mumbai Airport Customs officials have apprehended a flyer for allegedly smuggling cocaine & Methaqualone worth Rs 10 crore. The woman had ingested capsules containing drugs. She was admitted in hospital where doctors purged 84 capsules containing drugs from her body.

According to the Customs sources, on February 16, one suspect passenger who arrived from Entebbe, Uganda to Mumbai by Ugandan Airlines flight was intercepted. During questioning regarding the travel details and purpose of visit to Mumbai, the passenger showed some signs of nervousness and admitted about ingestion of some capsules containing white coloured crumbled substance purported to be narcotic substance.

“Then the passenger was taken to the Judicial Magistrate with a request to order recovery under the medical supervision. During the next 03 days, 84 capsules were purged by the passenger and with total net weight of 1.022 kgs of white crumbled substance purported to be cocaine & Methaqualone was recovered with medical assistance. Said passenger was arrested under the Provisions of the NDPS Act,” said a Customs official.

Recently officers of the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) had arrested a Congo national woman for allegedly smuggling Cocaine worth Rs 5.44 crores. The woman had ingested cocaine concealed in 10 capsules. She was admitted in the hospital where doctors purged capsules from her body.
