The Jogeshwari police have arrested five persons for allegedly kidnapping and gang-raping a 12-year-old girl in Jogeshwari. According to the Police, the accused arrested are Jamal, Aftab, Mahfooz, Hasan and Shamshad – all mechanics repairing air conditioners.
The police found that on February 25, the minor left home after arguing with her uncle. “Four of the five accused met her near Jogeshwari station and took her to their house on the pretext of giving her shelter for the night. On 26 February, three of the them gang-raped her, while one molested her. After this, the minor fled from there and reached Dadar station, where she met another man, who took her to Marine Drive and molested her,” police said.
The victim was found roaming around Dadar railway station and when the railway police questioned her, she alleged rape by the five men. They contacted the Jogeshwari police and came to know that they had already received a kidnapping complaint.
