Indore: Illegal Kiosks, Signboards Removed To Ease Traffic

Indore (Madhya Pradesh): To improve traffic flow, Indore district administration, in coordination with Indore Municipal Corporation and Traffic Police, undertook a drive on Thursday to remove illegal encroachments such as kiosks and signboards from roads and footpaths.

The drive was conducted following the direction of collector Asheesh Singh, who has formed joint teams from various departments to take action against traffic obstructions.

As part of this initiative, illegal kiosks and signboards were cleared from the footpath stretching from Anand Mohan Mathur Sabhagrah to Meghdoot Plaza intersection in Zone No 7.

The drive was carried out under the supervision of municipal commissioner Shivam Verma, with active participation from the district administration, the IMC, police, and traffic police.

SDM Kalyani Pandey and zonal officer Abhishek Singh were present during the operation. A similar crackdown was conducted in Zone No 16, Kalani Nagar (Airport Road), where multiple footpath encroachments were removed.

The action was led by deputy collector Seema Kanesh Maurya along with municipal corporation and traffic police teams. The local authorities said that the anti-encroachment drive will continue across different zones targeting unauthorised structures that hinder traffic movement and pedestrian safety. The administration has asked shopkeepers and vendors to adhere to regulations and keep public spaces clear to avoid further action.
