A shocking incident unfolded mid-flight on a journey from Istanbul to Cyprus when a female passenger was caught openly smoking inside the aircraft. The woman, dressed in a blue burqa and wearing sunglasses, seated next to the window, created a scene onboard as she blatantly violated in-flight safety regulations.
While the incident reportedly took place in 2019, followed by her detainment, the clip has resurfaced on social media. In a viral video, the woman can be seen casually puffing on a cigarette. She attempts to hide her actions by subtly lowering her face covering and discreetly exhaling the smoke into the cabin air, however, she gets caught immediately.

The strong smell of smoke soon makes the cabin crew rush to her seat. The flight attendants try to intervene and confiscate her cigarette lighter.
The visuals show her resisting them and creating a ruckus on the flight by trying to burn the seat cover using the igniting tool. In the video, the staff was seen pouring water on her lighter, trying to extinguish the fire lit by her.
The video has resurfaced on the internet, once again.
Smoking on an airplane is strictly prohibited under aviation laws due to the severe fire hazards it poses. Tampering with smoke detectors, lighting cigarettes, or carrying open flames inside a pressurized cabin can lead to heavy fines, detainment, and even permanent travel bans.
