Over Dozen Injured As Som Distilleries Staff Bus Overturns On Bhopal-Narmadapuram Road

Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): Over a dozen people were injured after a bus carrying employees of a distillery overturned on the Bhopal-Narmadapuram Road on Wednesday.

The accident occurred around 2:35 PM, near Barkatullah University (BU), when the bus collided with a divider. The employees were from Som Distilleries.

Among the 15 injured, the driver and conductor were also affected. One of the victims, V D Shukla, is in critical condition and has been placed on a ventilator.

Eyewitnesses stated that the bus was traveling at high speed when another bus tried to overtake it. The driver lost control, causing the bus to crash into the divider and flip over. The high speed and a burst tire caused the bus to slide several feet after the impact.

Passersby and the police quickly began rescue operations, and the injured were taken to a nearby private hospital. A team of 15 police officers from Bag Sevaniya police station arrived and immediately started the rescue efforts.

The driver, who was also injured, fled the scene after the crash.

Passengers mentioned that they were traveling from Anand Nagar to Mandideep when another bus tried to overtake them. The driver tried to brake, but the brakes failed, forcing the bus onto the footpath, which led to the accident.

The crash caused significant traffic congestion on both sides of the road for nearly an hour until the police used a crane to clear the bus and reopen the path.

The bus was transporting Som Distilleries employees to Mandideep. The police are still searching for the driver and investigating the cause of the accident.
