Acting on the information, police laid a trap and arrested six members of the gang at the spot, while three were arrested later within 24 hours.

Himmat Jadhav, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone 4), revealed, “Six were arrested on April 14 while the other three were arrested the next day. The suspects confessed to being involved in multiple incidents of mobile theft and robbery across Pune and Pimpri-Chinchwad Commissionerates.”
Dilip Chaugule, Police Sub-Inspector, Khadki Police Station, added, “The gang came to Pune by train on April 10 and stayed at a hotel in Viman Nagar, where they planned and divided into groups to commit crimes. Accordingly, 30 mobile phones were stolen by them in just four days till their arrests. A police team is analysing their previous records in Pune. The matter is under investigation. After the identification of the owners of the mobile phones, the whole incident will be on the table.”
