Mumbai Metro Line 7A: Tunnel Breakthrough Achieved Near CSMI Airport, Marks Engineering Milestone (Video)

Metro Line 7A (Andheri East to CSMI Airport), an extension of Red Line ML7 (Andheri East to Dahisar East), saw a breakthrough by tunnel boring machine ‘Disha’ on Thursday.

Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority Commissioner Sanjay Mukherjee and Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis witnessed the breakthrough along with other officials.

Fadnavis, said, “The tunnel breakthrough on Metro Line 7A is an engineering marvel, where the elevated and underground metro lines converge. It was a highly complex task, but MMRDA has executed it with excellence.”

The Metro 7A alignment is partially elevated and underground and runs parallel to Western Express Highway and Sahar elevated road. It consists of two stations: An elevated metro station (Airport Colony) and an underground station (Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport).

The alignment enters underground just before the vehicular underpass of Sahar elevated road, Vile Parle (East), and reaches underground station at CSMI Airport, parallel to terminal T2 and ML3 (Coloba-Bandra-Seepz) CSMIA station.
