Jabalpur (Madhya Pradesh): A massive fire broke at a house in Jabalpur on Friday night.
Rs 20 lakh cash and ornaments worth Rs 15 lakh were gutted in the flames. The family was saving for their daughter’s wedding scheduled for the next month.
This tragic incident happened at Bijauri of Chargawan police station area. The fire engulfed the entire house in no time and the grocery shop running in it along with the house was also damaged
According to the information, short circuit ignited fire at the residence of Munna Lal Rai, a resident of Kalar Pipariya.
Cash, Jewellery and furniture burnt
House owner Aarti Rai said that her husband Munna Lal Rai, their son, daughter and a daughter-in-law used to run a grocery shop in their house to support their family.
Munna, who had married his son a few months ago, was now busy preparing for his daughter’s wedding scheduled for next month. The items collected for the wedding, like cash, gold and silver, everything was burnt to the ashes.
The estimated loss amounts to over Rs 50 lakh, which includes Rs 20 lakh cash, gold and silver worth 15 lakhs. Furniture kept in the shop, important documents, and more than 50 sacks of moong-urad dal were also gutted.
Daughter’s wedding is next month
Rai said that her daughter’s wedding is next month and the property accumulated for her over the years has been destroyed in this tragic accident. The family is worried as to how will they make the arrangement in such short period of time.
Local resident Manish Rai said that if the fire brigade had arrived on time, perhaps some damage could have been avoided. The fire engine was delayed by about one and a half hours, due to which the fire took a terrible form.
The policemen reached the spot quickly and risked their lives to control the fire.
They went inside the house and took out the gas cylinder and stopped the fire from spreading. Some essential items were also taken out, but most of the items were destroyed by the flames.
