Pune Crime: Dr. Sushrut Ghaisas Booked For Causing Death By Negligence In Tanisha Bhise Death Case

Dr. Sushrut Ghaisas, who was entangled in accusations over the death of Tanisha Bhise, has been booked at Pune’s Alankar Police Station under Section 106(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), informed Sunita Rokade, Senior Police Inspector, Alankar Police Station.

The section deals with causing death by negligence, not amounting to culpable homicide. This comes just two days after Pune police provided security to Dr. Ghaisas.

Dr. Sushrut Ghaisas is one of the well-known obstetricians, gynecologists, and fetal medicine specialists based in Pune. He was working as a consultant for obstetrics, gynecology, and fetal medicine at Deenanath Mangeshkar Hospital in Erandwane, Pune.

He resigned from his position at Deenanath Mangeshkar Hospital amid the controversy surrounding the death of Tanisha Bhise.

Tanisha Bhise, the wife of the personal secretary of BJP MLC Amit Gorkhe, died at another facility after giving birth to twin daughters.

The family of Tanisha Bhise, the pregnant woman who allegedly lost her life after being denied admission by Mangeshkar Hospital, has alleged that Dr. Ghaisas, the treating doctor, asked them to deposit ₹10 lakh before starting treatment. She subsequently died at another hospital.

Who is Dr. Sushrut Ghaisas?

Dr. Ghaisas earned his MBBS degree from B J Medical College & Sassoon Hospital in Pune. He went on to complete a DNB in Obstetrics and Gynaecology at KEM Hospital in Mumbai and pursued a Fellowship in Advanced Ob-Gyn Ultrasound from Mediscan Systems in Chennai. Additionally, he holds a fellowship in Fetal Medicine from King’s College London and Royal Free Hospital in London.
