In a heartbreaking incident, Siddhesh Redekar, the 23-year-old son of prominent Kolhapur builder Vilas Redekar, tragically lost his life in a road accident on the Azara-Amboli highway. Siddhesh, who was a passionate biker and architecture student, was riding his Rs 12 lakh sports bike when the accident occurred near the Devarde Madal Titta area on Sunday morning.
The initial investigation by the police points to high speed as a possible cause of the accident. However, what makes this incident even more tragic is the footage captured by the camera installed in Siddhesh’s helmet. In the shocking visuals, Siddhesh can be seen letting go of the handlebar twice just before the fatal collision, even as the bike continued to speed at a dangerously high pace.
This harrowing footage is expected to provide crucial details about the moments leading up to the accident, raising concerns about the risks of riding at high speeds, even with modern safety gear.
According to reports, Siddhesh and his four friends were on a ride to Amboli Ghat when, while returning to Kolhapur around 11 am, his bike collided head-on with a Tavera car on a sharp turn. The crash was so violent that his high-end Rs 70,000 helmet shattered into pieces, and Siddhesh suffered severe head, chest, and hand injuries. Despite efforts from his friends to rush him to a private hospital, he was declared dead on arrival.
