Pramod Chaudhary re-elected president of GSTTA

Surat  : Gujarat State Table Tennis Association (GSTTA) president Pramod Chaudhary of Surat was re-elected unopposed in the Executive Body elections for the Term 2024 –28 conducted at the Annual General Meeting 2024 held in Surat on Sunday.

Other members who got elected unopposed were senior vice-president  Nisheeth Mehta (Bhavnagar), senior vice-president Jayaben Thakkar (Vadodara), vice president  Kantibhai Bhuva (Anand), vice president  Tulsi Sujan (Kachchh), vice president  Harshad Panchal (Ahmedabad), vice president Shri Dr. Jigar Patel (Valsad), honorary secretary  Hari Pillai (Kachchh), honorary treasurer  Rujul Patel (Aravalli), senior joint secretary  Kalpesh Thakkar (Vadodara), joint secretary  Hiren Mehta (Rajkot), joint secretary  Divyaben Pandya (Gandhinagar), joint secretary  Vikramsinh Jadeja (Jamnagar).

In the AGM, president Shri Chaudhary announced that Table Tennis Federation of India (TTFI) has allotted three national-level TT tournaments to GSTTA. “Gujarat will play hosts to the 86th Senior National Championship 2024, 86th Cadet & Sub – Junior National Championships 2024 and Para National Championships 2024. All the details of the tournament will be announced in the near future,” Chaudhary said.

After two Gujarat paddlers qualifying for the recently concluded Paris 2024 Olympics, GSTTA has made a detailed plan to support and grow the sport from the grassroot level.  

“We have formed sub–committees such as Selection, Technical, Veterans, Disciplinary, Para, Media, Coaching, Finance which will help us stay on the path of growth of the sport at every level. A Prize Money Tournament for top 8- ranked players, which will be organised after almost 20 years in the state, will also be conducted this year. The prize money tournament of Sub-junior boys and girls (U-15) categories will be organised by Kachchh District Table Tennis Association in Gandhidham while the tournament for seniors will be hosted by Table Tennis Association of Ahmedabad in Ahmedabad,” the newly-elected secretary Hari Pillai, who replaced Kushal Sangtani, informed.  

At the AGM, it was decided that the prestigious State & Inter–District Table Tennis Championships 2024 will be played in Gandhidham from September 23 to 27, 2024.

“Keeping in mind the 2036 Olympics, GSTTA has undertaken work to identify promising U–9 paddlers and facilitate them with all the necessary support and also help various districts to increase the presence of table tennis in rural areas,” president Shri Chaudhary announced.
