Adani Foundation and ICDS Celebrate National Newborn Care Week in Surat

Surat : National Newborn Care Week, observed globally from November 15 to 21, was celebrated in Umarpada taluka of Surat district through a joint initiative by the Adani Foundation and the Gujarat Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS). This collaboration aims to raise awareness about newborn care and combat malnutrition in the region.

As part of its ongoing efforts, the Adani Foundation launched Project Fortune Nutrition in April 2024 in partnership with ICDS to address malnutrition in Umarpada. The celebration of National Newborn Care Week was a key milestone in this mission, emphasizing education and support for expectant mothers and families.

During the event, the Adani Foundation distributed special care kits to pregnant women. These kits included essential items such as a warm washcloth for newborns, massage oil, and soap to ensure the hygiene of both the baby and mother. The initiative underscored the importance of proper care during the critical newborn phase.

To extend the message of newborn care, the week-long celebration featured activities such as awareness rallies, family counseling sessions, and group discussions throughout the taluka. These programs aimed to educate the community on vital practices for newborn health and the prevention of malnutrition.

The event concluded with a collective resolution to make Umarpada taluka malnutrition-free through continued collaborative efforts. A spokesperson from the Adani Foundation remarked, “Through Project Fortune Nutrition and National Newborn Care Week, we are working towards a healthier future for newborns and their families.”
