Mumbai: In light of the urgent need for repairs to the pneumatic gate system at Pise, a critical water distribution point, the BMC has announced a 10% water cut in Mumbai starting December 1 to 5. The repair work will also impact the areas served by the BMC’s pipeline network, affecting the water supply to the Thane and Bhiwandi Municipal Corporations during this period.
The pneumatic gate system, essential for managing water flow at Pise, requires immediate attention due to a malfunction in its air bladders. The repair work, which is scheduled to begin on December 1 and is expected to be completed by December 2, is vital for restoring the proper functioning of the system and will require a temporary reduction in water supply.
During this repair period, both Mumbai residents and consumers in Thane and Bhiwandi will face a 10% reduction in their water supply. The BMC appeals to all citizens to use water judiciously during this time to help alleviate the impact of the reduced supply.
