Ratlam (Madhya Pradesh): Ratlam police arrested a 7-member Rajasthan child-lifting gang on Thursday involved in the kidnapping of a brother and sister from Hussain Tekri in Jaora.
The children, aged 1 and 8, were kidnapped five days ago and the police were able to recover them safely from the accused. According to SP Amit Kumar, the mastermind of the gang, Rashid Shah, was in contact with a nurse in Gujarat who had asked him to provide a child.
The nurse, Mehjabeen Bi, had planned to sell the children to a childless couple for Rs 80,000. The gang, which included four women and a minor accused, had been staying in the Hussain Tekri area from December 2 to 3.
They lured the children with biscuits and kidnapped them, taking them away from their homes.
The police were able to identify the suspects through CCTV footage and raided their location in Biaora, Rajgarh district, to detain them. The accused have been arrested and are being investigated for their involvement in human trafficking.
The arrested accused include Rashid Shah, his wife Zulekha, Babli, Nasra Bi, Mohammad Hanif, and nurse Mehjabeen Bi, as well as a minor accused. The police are investigating whether the accused have committed similar crimes in the past.
