Kasrawad (Madhya Pradesh): Farmers in the Singhachori area were expressing their frustration over persistent voltage problems that have plagued them for the past three years.
Despite government initiatives aimed at improving electricity services for farmers and consumers alike, the electricity department appears unresponsive to their concerns. A group of about two dozen farmers has reported significant challenges due to inadequate voltage, which has severely impacted their ability to irrigate their crops.
With the sowing of the Rabi crop currently underway, the demand for reliable electricity is critical. Farmers claimed they are connected to a 63 KVA capacity transformer under the Pipalgon feeder. The transformer has been overloaded due to double connections.
For three years, farmers have repeatedly sought to increase the capacity of the transformer but little progress. Farmers Deepak Patidar, Ritesh Patidar and others collectively said that they have repeatedly visited the electricity department to request a voltage increase. They report that while officials take their applications, no substantial action has been taken.
The farmers are demanding either the installation of a new transformer or a transformer with double the existing capacity. Senior Congress leader Rajendra Singh Yadav criticised the ruling BJP government for only prioritising farmers during election seasons and urged electricity officials to resolve these pressing issues promptly.
Attempts to reach the executive engineer Rajesh Mahor went unanswered. Dhansingh Khandekar, a junior engineer assured to resolve problems of the farmers sooner.
