Chandigarh: The farmers protesting at Shambhu border to press for their various demands, will now undertake a foot-march to Delhi on December 1, farmer leader Sarwan Singh Pandher said Tuesday evening.
Briefing newspersons, Pandher said that a “jatha’’ (group) comprising 101 farmers would proceed to Delhi 14 while the farmers would hold a “prayers’ day’’ on Wednesday.
Rueing that Prime Minister Narendra Modi who was in Haryana’s Panipat city on Monday did not speak on the farmers’ issues and demands, the farm leader also sought Punjabi singers and religious preachers’ support for the farmers’ demands.

Pandher said that the government should hold talks with the farmers without any further loss of time considering the deteriorating condition of farm leader Jagjit Singh Dallewal who is on a fast-unto-death for the past 15 days.
Earlier, in the morning, the farmers undertook a cleanliness drive at their protest site at Shambhu border.
It may be recalled that the farmers who had attempted to march towards Haryana by trying to remove or break the barricades put up by Haryana police and the para-military forces at shambhu barrier on December 6 and December 8 had halted their march after several of them were hurt in the teargas shelling by police.
It may be recalled that a number of farmers have been camping at Shambhu border as well as Khanauri borders of Punjab and Haryana since February 13 of this year to press for their various demands including MSP and loan waiver.
Their “Delhi chalo’’ protest march also witnessed violent conflicts between farmers and security forces twice – on February 13 at Shambhu border and on February 21 at Khanauri border earlier and now twice in the past few days.
