Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): A meeting of sports federations and associations was held at TT Nagar stadium on Tuesday. At the meeting, a few association members highlighted that the format of some sports including age criteria in Khelo MP Games differs from standard formats.
Responding to it, sports and youth welfare minister Vishvas Sarang said the rules set by international federations, including age-related norms, would be strictly followed. Additionally, a few members have said that Khelo MP games should be held for sub-junior category also, to which Sarang said that initially the games would only be for junior and senior categories.
The Khelo MP trials will be held from December to January. In this, the players will first be chosen at the block level to form district teams. Then, the players from district-level teams will be sent to regional teams. Multiple groups will be created at the regional level and participants will receive state-level participation certificates.
This new process will be implemented on a trial basis for two years. If issues arise, adjustments or changes will be made. The selection committee comprising district sports officers and members of federations and associations will draft a comprehensive SOP within five to seven days.
