Punjabi Singer Ranjit Bawa Disappointed After 3rd Show In Himachal Gets Cancelled Due To Bajrang Dal Protests, Appeals To CM For Intervention

Punjabi singer Ranjit Bawa was scheduled to perform at Red Cross fair at Nalagarh in Himachal Pradesh on 15th December. However, his show was cancelled due to protests by Bajrang Dal and Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) members, who accused him of hurting Hindu sentiments with his song Mera Ki Kasoor.

Now, Ranjit Bawa took to his social media handle and reacted to the cancellation of his show and urged the Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukh to intervene, highlighting that this was the third time a show of his in the state had been cancelled.

Taking to his Instagram story, the singer wrote in Punjabi, “After the cancellation of the Nalagarh show, some people spread hatred, using religion and politics to divide people. I appeal to the Honorable CM of Himachal to intervene as the third show in Himachal was also canceled last year. Entertainment is meant to unite, but some are using religion to fuel division. We respect all religions, but some people are turning this into a Hindu-Sikh issue.”

The 35-year-old singer also apologised for hurting the sentiments caused by his Mera Ki Kasoor, “Our fans, who have supported us for years, are upset by this. We apologize for any offense caused by the song ‘Mera Ki Kasoor’ and are committed to spreading love and peace. We ask for prayers that hatred ends, and we return with shows soon. Love, peace, Waheguru,” added the singer.

Bawa’s song Mera Ki Kasoor, released in 2020, is currently unavailable on YouTube. He faced multiple FIRs after protests by Hindu groups, accusing him of hurting religious sentiments.
