Yesterday, Mamta Kulkarni made it to the headlines as she revealed that she is taking sanyaas. The former actress became the Mahamandaleshwar of the Kinnar Akhada, and the ceremony took place at Maha Kumbh Mela in Allahabad. Mamta did many super hits films in the 90s and she has also faced a lot of controversies. Whenever she came back to India, media would ask her about making a comeback to movies or if she going in the Bigg Boss house. But, neither of that happened.
Now, after becoming Mahamandaleshwar, Mamta spoke to India Today, and she revealed that she can’t go back to films. The former actress said, “I can’t even imagine doing films again. It is absolutely impossible for me now.”
Further talking about becoming a Mahamandaleshwar of the Kinnar Akhada, Mamta said, “People of Kinnara Akhada represent the Ardhnareshwar avatar of Lord Shiva and goddess Parvati. Becoming a Mahamandaleshwar of such Akhada is like an Olympic medal after 23 years of my spiritual practice.”
“It’s only with the blessings of the Goddess Adishakti that I have been bestowed with this honour. I chose to be a part of the Kinnar Akhada because it represents freedom. There are no restrictions here,” she added.
While Mamta’s Mahamandaleshwar ceremony has already been done, Kinnar Mahamandaleshwar Hemangi Sakhi Maa has objected it. During an interaction with ANI, she said, “First of all, who was Kinnar Akhada formed for? For the Kinnar community. But now, a woman has been inducted into the Kinnar Akhada. If it is Kinnar Akhada and you have started giving positions to women, then rename the Akhada.”
She further questioned Mamta’s alleged relationships with underworld. Sakhi Maa said, “Mamta Kulkarni’s background should have been looked into. She has connections with D Company. She returned to India suddenly, her videos went viral. She arrived at Kumbh suddenly, her videos went viral. And then she is anointed as Mahamandaleshwar. What are the facts behind this? This should be investigated. I strongly condemn this.”
