Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): MP Nagar police have registered an FIR against unidentified cyber conmen for creating a fake website of Ayush department and inviting applications for recruitment to 2,972 fake vacant posts.
The fraudsters allegedly duped people who called up on the numbers provided on the website.
Despite the fake website and its associated Facebook page advertising the vacancies for nearly a month, the fraud came to the notice of Ayush department officials only on April 6—the final day for submitting applications—when the post went viral on social media.
On Tuesday, an FIR was registered in this connection with the fake website at MP Nagar police station.
According to reports, a facebook page with the name – ‘e aushadhi Madhya Pradesh’ advertised job vacancies for 2,972 posts in ‘Ayush Department’ and even provided a link of a website on which the date of filling application form was mentioned as March 7 to April 6.
The government rebutted advertising any such vacancies -which has gone viral on social media. It stated that the website inviting applications for recruitment in ‘Ayush Department’ was fake.
TI Jaihind Sharma said that further investigations were being carried out with assistance from the cyber crime branch.
Rs 500 per application
On the fake website, the format of application form was identical to the official format of the department website. The applications were invited for positions of store manager, assistant store manager, data entry operator and others. The fee for each application was Rs 500.
More frauds suspected
Ayush department officials suspect that besides duping aspirants on pretext of recruitment, the scammers may have floated tenders for different works and duped contractors while issuing fake work orders in return of cash.
